Spec upgrade · V2 → V3 — converts in your browser

Upgrade your card from V2 to V3.

V3 is the current character card spec: it adds an assets array, group greetings, multilingual creator notes, and turns the lorebook into a first-class object with decorators. Upgrading from V2 is lossless — every V2 field has a V3 home — but doing it by hand invites shape mistakes in the lorebook. This converter does the upgrade mechanically and shows you each field it mapped or initialized.

Convert a card

Drop in a card and download. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

PNG, JSON, or .charx. Converted entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.

Convert to

Importing to a hub (RisuRealm / Chub)? .charx or V2 PNG are accepted most widely. A bare V3 JSON has no embedded avatar, so some hubs reject it.

Conversion notes

Pick a card and a target format, then convert. Any fields that don't survive are listed here so you can review them before downloading.

The route

  1. Drop a V2 card below

JSON or PNG — the spec version is detected from the data, not the file name.

  2. Pick your V3 output

V3 JSON for editing, V3 PNG for direct SillyTavern import, or .charx for RisuAI.

  3. Read the upgrade report

New V3 fields are initialized empty rather than guessed; the report shows exactly what was mapped where.

Questions

Is V2 to V3 really lossless?
Upward, yes — V3 is a superset. It's the downgrade (V3 → V2) that drops fields: assets, character_book decorators, group greetings and multilingual notes, all of which this converter enumerates before you download.
Do I need to upgrade at all?
If your card works and you don't need V3 features, no. Upgrade when you want assets, group greetings, or you're targeting a V3-native client like RisuAI.
